Was it the antiques? Was it the Bed & Breakfast? Perhaps it was the quaint, sleepy little town of Jefferson, Texas. Or maybe, it was the much needed respite after a long and difficult struggle that comes after experiencing the death of a parent. Whatever it was, White Oak Manor in Jefferson, Texas, will always hold a special place in our hearts.
It was Sunday afternoon just after church. We had the car loaded down. Lunch was waiting for us in our ice chest, and the GPS was set. Based on a friend’s recommendation, our destination was Jefferson, Texas.
Jefferson, Texas is 166 miles east of Dallas, TX and 44 miles west of Shreveport, LA.
Our sights were set on White Oak Manor Bed & Breakfast…to be precise!!

In full disclosure, we’ve actually made two trips to this adorable getaway in East Texas. On this trip, we stayed in the White Oak Room which is situated at the front of the house with a perfect view of the 150-yr-old White Oak Tree in the front yard. But on our second trip, we stayed in the Southern Charm Room found at the back of the house. We enjoyed both room accommodations, but the Southern Charm Room featured french doors opening up to a petit balacony which was a cozy touch.

The special accommodations we requested were wonderful…fruit and chocolate to complement our favorite wine.
The staircase winding upward to the guest rooms was gorgeous! David and Tammy Doriot, Innkeepers of White Oak Manor, were very hospitable. Tammy filled us in on sites to see and available activities, and David is credited with making gourmet breakfasts that melt in your mouth! Simply delicious!!

Have you fallen in love with White Oak Manor as we did? I hope so. If you ever plan a trip to East Texas, be sure to check their availability. By the way, I am not a paid blogger so there isn’t anyone offering me incentive to share this review. I’ll be sharing more about the sites of Jefferson, Texas in Part 2. Do you have a favorite Bed & Breakfast to recommend?

We went to White Oak Manor in 2012 for the first time. I don’t recall when we made the second trip. I’ll disclose something that we still have shipped to us by the case from Jefferson, Texas in Part 2. How’s that for a tease to stay tuned? LOL
